GSL-XXII (2009)
The Twenty-Second GSL International Scale Vehicle Championship and Convention was a huge success. The Championship was presented in the very hospitable Salt Lake Sheraton City Centre
where hundreds of models were placed into competition from entrants from 16 states and Canada.
As always, the winning models were spectacular.
Our congratulations to the great models that competed at GSL-XXII!
The GSL-XXIII Schedule was full of great events: three days filled with seminars, a day of Museum tours, a very successful Museum-Benefit
Auction ($3,595 raised for the Museum!!), a special Museum seminar in which the famed John Estlow collection was donated by his family.
We presented many seminars and gatherings for those in attendance. Check out the official Schedule for the Twenty-Second GSL Championship.
We also hosted most of the Best of Show winning models starting in 1979. We produced a special Best of Show booklet that you can enjoy.
To top it all off, a delicious Sunday morning breakfast coupled
to a great Awards Presentation made this Championship one for the record books. We also enjoyed a spectacular set of sponsors who generously supported our efforts.
Additionally, the Museum published a major modeling book, How to Build Championship Models: Construction Considerations for Building Championship-Caliber Models, authored by Mark S.
Gustavson and Robert A. Wick. This book is being distributed by the Museum without charge for the sake of passing along critical planning and technical articles on building championship models. Download this book.
We want to express our thanks to the hundreds of people – both contestants (young
and old) and attendees – who attended GSL-XXII. We all had a great time!
